How long do farm fresh eggs keep?
We got a dozen eggs from our neighbor, his father's chickens had produced more than they could all use. I'm wondering how long I can expect them to last - and how long is too long for keeping them. Also, is there a way to tell when an egg has gone bad?
Thank you!

Farm eggs last longer than store bought because you eliminate the packing and store from the picture.I would say a month,I raise chickens and have kept them longer, but to be safe a month is good. You can fill your kitchen sink half full of water, then place the eggs down in the water. If the egg floats, it is not good.Eggs from a farm are richer than most store bought eggs. The yolk is usually deep orange, and extra yummy.:)

Eggs can be frozen for baking purposes but must be separated, white from yolk and freeze in ice cube containers.

I eat eggs from my chickens up to 3 months after they are hatched. If in doubt place them in cold water. If they sink to the bottom they are still good to eat. If they float, they are not good.

I am confused. How do you eat an egg after it hatches? Wouldn't it be a chicken?

If you have a question about weather the eggs are good there is a test you can do. It may seem to simple but it works.Put the eggs in a container with enough water th cover the eggs. If they float they are bad.

Yes in water is a good way of testing eggs, but to be more crompehensive:
When the eggs stay flat down under water, they are very fresh, if they want to go upright they are probably at least 2 to 3 weeks old.
This test has all to do with how big the air chamber is inside the egg.
The older the egg the more it dries out and the bigger the air chamber gets, which in turn makes them wanting to float.

I was thinking the same thing... three months after it 'hatches'... if it sinks it's a chicken... if it floats it's a duck!!

I am reading that eggs are "good" for 4 to 5 weeks. Where are you reading 10 days?

This film was about a fat white or yellow dog, that went to a farm. He wore a tie and walked on two legs. He had a friend, which was a border collie (Black and white, I believe) and he liked this collie dog, who was pretty. Later, in the end of the movie, the fat dog and the collie had puppies. It...
