Being born in captivity does not automatically make him the wisest choice for a pet. Go back to the store and get as much information as you can on his care. Read up on whatever you can find at the library. Call you humane society or pet shelter and ask if anyone there has advice.

I agree hedgies are the cutest but that does not mean they should be pets.
