How to set gap on beckett oil burner electrode
I have a Beckett Burner; looks like a AFG model. 2 weeks ago I changed the filter, screen and nozzle. She ran well for 2 days; and now she shuts off intermittently. I noticed that when I reset her, she hesitates before she ignites; she never did that before. I am assuming that the electrode gap is off, due to the ignition hesitation; am I right or wrong? Several weeks ago I vaccumed the burner. I now also notice that when she does ignite I see and smell a little smoke. Could it also be that the eye is shutting off the burner because the smoke prevents her from seeing? There is so much to an oil burner and I love it. Also is there a website I can go to for troubleshooting a Beckett Oil Burner?
    Thanks for your time.

I've heard that the Beckett oil burner electrode gap setting is 1/8 inch apart 1/4 in out and 1/2 in up. The 1/8"apart is simple enough to understand.

The 1/4" out is a measurement from the probe ends to the side of the nozzle housing or 1/4" from the probes to the tip of the nozzle?

The 1/2" up is a measurement from the face of the nozzle to the tips of the electrodes?

I just had it serviced and its been popping the safety on the honeywell flame-out sensor controller.

This the site for the Beckett (service) manual. It has measurements for the igniter gap along with a nice diagram. Lot of other info, too.
