Try gargling warm water with salt. Sugar is an irritant to your throat and it makes you unhealthy. It also makes you develop Diabetes. Although, sugar can be treated for allergies, when you have a sore throat try to stay away from sugar.
Ice cream will definitely make your sore throat worse so steer clear away from all that sugary stuff and stick to salty or bland foods. Get proper sleep or rest. You have to be able to relax and rest your throat so no talking too much and stress your vocal chords.
For now, do not drink cold glasses of water. Opt for warm or hot water to relieve the soreness and so it would heal fast.
