    Eyesight problems - flashing/sparkles
    Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help but here goes:

Over the last few days I have been having problems with my eyesight, the best I can describe it is like the flashing pixels in a computer/tv - my whole sight is like this. It's not blurred in any way, nor is there any really bright flashing lights or floaters. It's just as if my whole vision is constantly flashing little dots.

I've been to an eye casualty unit and they said there is nothing wrong with my eyes, well at least nothing serious...

Does anyone know what this is and what I can do about it??

    Many thanks,
    Darren

You should go to your regular doctor. There are other illnesses that can cause these disturbances, Diabetes being one of them.

    OH!! YES~!!
Sort of like broken, flashing mirrors disrupting your vison?
This used to happen to me often.
My doctor told me it is
    The onset of a migraine.

    Tell your doctor about it.
    He can help.
    :-)

This can be the onset of a migraine, as well as strange odors. But it can also be caused by a number of other disorders.

Seeing a doctor, not an eye doctor, is a good place to start.

Thanks for the advice, will make an appointment. I don't think its migraine related because I've had it for a week continuously, but I know what you mean about vision being affected before a migraine.

If I understood correctly, you guys have the same eye condition I do. It's like two dozen of the smallest sparkles, each moving in random directions and making itself visible for a brief instant; this is more clear in spaces with much light, like outside. However, this scenario is constant and it has always been, for as long as I can remember - I'm 22 years old.

Besides the recent appearance of floaters, I do not have any other eye conditions and do not need any kind of corrective lenses.

Since it seems that both the floaters and these "erratically dancing sparkling lights" are symptoms for diabetes, I'll have to check that up.

    I'll post soon.

WOW, all great advice. But once again, I got to agree with J_9 (and the others) that said that it is probably the onset of migraines. Visit your regular doctor, and let them know any and all problems you have whether you think its important or relevant or not. Diabetes are also a posibility... so many things are.

I get the same thing - started a couple years ago. I was told that it's an ocular headache and not to be alarmed. It only affects my vision and sometimes it can last up to 30 minutes.
