Replace drive belt on L120 John Deere
I have a L120 John Deere Lawn Tractor and need to replace the drive belt. It looks like you have to remove the steering column in order to do so. Any help on how to change it would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the deck. Loosen the idler pulleys and remove the jacksheave. YOu will also have to remove the belt guide from the transmission. Make a drawing of the belt routing or you will be posting back on the routing

I see by the previous answer to remove the jacksheave. I have a parts list & diagram, but do not see a jacksheave. Do you know what part this is? I'm having the same trouble. Mark

    Hi,
It is the double sheave on the engine. Yes, steering shaft goes up after removal of nut and pinion.
    Peace,
    Clarke
