    A Newborn Baby
Hi, I Would Like To Know The Minimum Age Requirement Of A Qualifying Child Because I Had My Daughter On Oct, 19 2006. Will I Be Able To Claim Her For The Year Of 2006? I Mean She Was In My Stomach The Entire Year So Does That Count As EIC?

Yes, you can claim your daughter, born in Oct of 2006, as your dependent on your 2006 tax return. Whether you qualify for EIC is based on income, so only you and whoever prepares your taxes will know that.

I had an accountant friend who had 4 kids All of them were born in December by plan so he could take a deduction for them for them for the whole year.

You see publicity about the first baby born in the New Year. I'd be pissed (jk) if my kid waited until after midnight on the 31st and cost me the deduction for the year.

You can claim the child in the year it was born. Doesn't matter if it was born at 11:59 PM on 12/31. It's a deduction for that year.

Re your PM. I'm surprised that Turbo Tax is invalidating the Dependent. As ATE confirmed it doesn't matter when during the year the kid was born, they are a dependent for the year.

As I said in my answer to the PM, tax software does NOT think. It's been set to address circumstances for children who have been out of country, or lived in several homes, NOT for newborns.

I told Stephanie to put in Turbo Tax that the child has lived with her the entire year.
