Vaseline might actually be a bad idea for coating something intended for lightening. It's oil-based, and therefore UV exposure and it's effect are increased. (Despite any properties it may serve as bounding lips and other products' ingestion.)

I put vaseline on my lips all the time and they're really light red/pink :)

But I heard also that vaseline and emu oil both darken skin, somehow.

I like my lips burgandyish-brown, I would prefer no lighter than light brown/burgandyesh. I don't know why but my lips look a bit more fuller that way and it looks like I am wearing lipstick. I believe any oil based product applied to the lips can increase the chance of the skin darkening if your lips have more melanin there. My only reason to use vaseline would be for my eyebrows once in a while, other than that I hate vaseline.

You guys with dark or rich lips is blessed.

Pale lips can look lifeless and have that "clear" look. :(

I doubt I would look right with red-toned lips, no matter how much I lightened. But, some people look great with red-toned lips like Mccauley Culkin, he has vibrant red lips and is adorable.. even though hese older than me

Yeah he has pink lips, similar to my older brother's. But it looks fine on him. But I don't find it attractive on him, its not unnatractive either, I guess they blend in too much on him.

Hi, I've been using papaya kojic acid soap on my face and lips for the past 6 months, alpha arbutin on my lips morning and night for the past three months and have just received my fresh up today. The papaya for me is just a great exfoliater, the alpha arbutin hasn't shown much results in way of lightening either! I'm going to continue to use all three along with some lip balm because the alpha and fresh up feel very drying on the lips... il keep you all updated.

p.s fresh up very very expensive for a tiny 15ml!

On my sixth day of using fresh up morning and night along with the other stuff I mentioned. There is no noticeable difference to the colour of my lips although I have been smoking a lot more recently which can't be helping, but I'm going to continue using the fresh up until it finishes. I'm going to be gutted if it doesn't work!

If your lips are dark to smoking, then the first thing you need to do is stop. But if it's just dark because it is, then try using your toothbrush to scrub with lemon juice once a day. It'll work. Everything takes time.

It'll work if at one time your lips were lighter. Your lips don't bleach like your skin can. It'll bruise if anything. It can only return to it's natural shade, but won't of another color, again, IT'LL BRUISE, and look funny, and you'll be praying for those black lips back again. (LOL)!!

Of course you'll look lighter outside due to the sun light, or just the different light. That's normal, everyone experiences that.

Hello everyone! Apoligies for not keeping you updated... a week into using the fresh up I started a new job and my beauty regime just took a back seat! Sorry droy I'm sure its not the update you were hoping for! I stopped using the fresh up once I started my job as my daily routine became too hectic and my priorities changed. I do intend on starting again with the fresh up and once I do I will let you all know my results xx
