    I hope someone can help...
I filled out an application for an apartment and lady asked for deposit and pro-rated first month rent vefore I ever signed a lease... I called her back and told her that I didn't want the apartment for unspecified reasons... she told me that she had already deposited the check... I stopped payment on the check... she was charged a fee for the bounced check and wants me to pay for it... now my question is... is it legal for her to deposit the check and collect payment for an apartment that I never signed a lease for?

What does the application say? You may have signed up for this. If it is not in the agreement then she is out of luck. It is legal for her to deposit the check simply because you gave it to her and it is in her name.
