    Hardware or Software Problem?
I wiped out Windows Me on a Dell Dimension XPS D266, installed Windows98SE and now can't open IE or OE and anything I try to open is soooo painfully slow. I've fdisked, reformatted and reinstalled Win98SE 3 times and same results. I tried scanreg /fix in MS-Dos and results says it's fixed but it isn't. I installed a netgear WG311 wireless adapter and it shows I'm connected to my Access Point yet IE won't open!
    TIA

As far as not being able to open IE and OE - that is actually a blessing in disguise... (just kidding-not). Asumming you are using Win98 SE, I have four suggestions.

    1. go to DOS (Start-Run>Command) & enter ipconfig/all. Study/Verify the results (or post your results). Important, IP addr, gateway, dns & dhcp servers. Enter "ipconfig/release", followed by "Ipconfig/renew", compare results & try surf'n.

    2. Power down your PC & router. Bypass your router & connect your PC directly to your internet access point/gateway (e.d. dsl, cable, satellite, etc). Powerup your PC & try to surf..

    3. Test your net access via a dialup connection.

    4. Consider upgrade'g to Win2k or XP...
