Trump's 5th amendment protection against double jeopardy
You know and I know that the REAL reason for the raid on Mar a Lago had nothing to do with violations of the Presidential records act ,classified docs being stored securely on site or nuclear secretes that could imperil American security .

The REAL reason for the raid is to assist the Kangaroo court in it's investigation of January 6 2021 so they can ultimately give recommendations for indictment of Trump for the allegation that he led a coup attempt yada yada

However ; the 5th Amendment ;like the 4th Amendment that I have already mentioned in another post ,is unambiguous in it's constitutional protections .
    It reads

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The thing is ,Trump has already been tried for Jan 6. The House Impeached him and a trial was held in the Senate. This happened between January 6 and 20,2021.

Yes the trial was held in Congress instead of the courts .It was still a trial . Nothing in the constitution suggests that a trial in the courts would not constitute double jeopardy after an impeachment acquittal . If the real reason for the raid was to find evidence connecting him to Jan 6 then it must be thrown out of court .

That's a great post. The hatred directed against Trump is amazing. I still wonder if they are terrified of the possibility of Trump knowing where all the skeletons are buried.

Yes that is the main reason for the raid. The grunt work for the Kangaroo court is secondary . One thing we know for sure ..... it was about politics and had no relation to national security concerns .

They might just want some leverage. "Keep your mouth shut or we'll make this or that public."

They have all the leverage . They don't even pretend that this isn't a political move to prevent Trump from ever being reelected .

Speaking of Liz Cheney ;the lifetime Virginia and swamp resident who pretends to represent the people of Wyoming ;she is dropping hints that she might run for President in 2024. She knows she can't win. She is ONLY motivated by hatred of Trump. But she could act like a spoiler in the campaign ;much like Ross Perot was to GHW Bush .

She is considering running as an independent? Why doesn't she go ahead and join the dem party? That is clearly where her sympathies lie.

The Dems won't take her. Besides her hatred of Trump ;she is politically a rock ribbed conservative. They called her dad 'Darth Vader ' .She will be like McCain was to the Dems . He was the beloved "maverick" . He was endorsed by the Slimes in the NY Republican primaries . But once he became the Repub candidate they unmercifully trashed him .

Liz Cheney's real base right now is the never Trumper Repubs . That's it . But that may be enough in a Repub primary battle ;or a 3rd party run to derail Trump. She would have the Soros bucks behind her and the slick marketing of James Goldson ;the producer of the Kangaroo court show. But if she thinks she could have a political rebirth beyond an improbable shot at the Presidency ;she should declare herself to be a Swamp resident and run for Congress in Virginia .
