    Yertle has to go
Yertle the turtle Mitch McConnell was making the rounds on television post election . He said that the NJ Guv race was amazing because it was so close even though Repubs were not competitive in NJ and no one even knew the name of the Repub candidate (Jack Ciattarelli) .
This demonstrates the problem with the GOP leadership. The fact is that the race was always competitive but the idiots running the national GOP did not know it . Had a little bit of support from the national GOP gone to Ciattarelli ,he would most likely be Guv elect today. The Repub victories Tuesday came despite the national Repub leadership . Most Repub victories came via grass roots mobilization .The national GOP was MIA .

    Yertle has to go

After a year and a half of having Clueless Joe's agenda stalled it looks like Schmucky Shumer is on a roll ;in large part thanks to Yertle McConnell .
Yertle bragged in June that the Senate would not pass a bi-partisan compute chip bill if the Dems tried to do reconciliation to pass the President's Build Back Brandon agenda .
A wink and a nod by Schmucky and Yertle rushed to get the computer chip subsidy (aka the Paul Pelosi meal ticket) . It passed yesterday ;and Madam Mimi will rush it through the House today.

Then before the ink dried ,Schmucky got together with the sometimes moderate Senator from West Virginia ;Joe Manchin ;and compromised so that a watered down Build Back Brandon bill could pass through the Senate before the campaign season gets into full gear in September . Although it is not as big as originally envisioned it will still provide $ hundreds of billions of monopoly dollars for some of the Dems wish list . They cynically call it the “Inflation Reduction Act” .

The bill would be paid for by that global minimum corporate tax they want passed .Some of it is good. Manchin wanted Medicare to be able to negotiate drug prices . If that can be kept corruption free that would be a good thing. There is some money to continue to subsidize Obamacare. They throw in $300 billion in deficit reduction (I can't quite figure out how they will spend money to reduce the deficit ) .

But the bulk of the bill is money for the Dems climate change agenda .

The knife in the back of Manchin will be when the Dems fail to pass reforms he desires that will allow a pipeline to pump West Virginia shale gas . But we will have to wait for the end of the year to see that betrayal.

For now Yertle McConnell is the big loser ....... AGAIN . He is like Charlie Brown and Schmucky is Lucy holding the football goading him to kick it .

Remember when Yertle thought that if the Repubs would cave and support a $trillion infrastructure bill that the Dems spending thirst would be quenched and they would abandon Build Back Brandon ?

    wrong again.

He is the worse Republican Senate leader I can recall .......and there have been some pretty lame ones before him.

That even includes the Everett Dirksen in the 1960s and Bob Dole and Trent Lott . Yertle is the worse . He has been the Seante Repub leader since the beginning of the emperor's reign ,and both Harry Reid and Schmucky Schumer has out maneuvered him and eaten his lunch .

Yes assuming that they don't fold like a cheap tent when it came to implementing it . Yertle always talks a good game .

That was at the end of the Dole era and the beginning of the Lott era. The contract was mostly Newt's doing but Lott gets a hat tip for generally being true fiscal and social conservative.

I agree. I wish Lott had fought harder against the silliness that was lodged against him. He and the repubs caved too easily.

So now Manchin is trying to get the last Dem hold out Kyrsten Sinema to sign on to the reconciliation Build Back Brandon light aka the Inflation Reduction Act or some such Orwellian name . ( FYI reducing inflation is called deflation and that usually happens during economic depression in the real world .What they mean is reduce the rate of increase in inflation . )
Manchin is telling her that she has leverage to get goodies she wants . In his case he made a stand alone deal for a not so Green New Deal gas pipeline through west Va.

Manchin Won a Pledge From Democrats to Finish a Contested Pipeline - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

He should know that Schmucky is the master of the betrayal. After reconciliation there is little chance that his pet project will be approved .

For her part ,Sinema is pissed that she was not included in the back room intrigue . So Manchin's mission is also an attempt to smooth ruffled feathers .

Again Yertl has no clue .

"I think there's probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different, they're statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome."

He is doing the Dems job for them . Not only does he disparage the candidates on the slate ;he also disparages the Republican voters who chose them in the primaries .

He is supposed to be a party leader . Instead he rhetorically cedes the Senate to the Dems 3 months before an election. Is that leadership ? If he was so concerned about the quality of the candidates then why wasn't he out on the road promoting all these better "quality " candidates ?

My own 2 cents ; I think he is more content being a minority leader than head of the Senate . If so then by all means step aside for a Senator who wants to win.

This is what is at stake . There are 14 Senate seats that are in contention . 2 are safe Dem seats . 2 are safe Repub seats . There are 1 for each party that are considered leaning towards the party. The rest are all toss ups .

What is his real beef ? I believe he would've sung a different tune if the slate was a bunch of life time swamp critters . But the Repubs have a number of candidates who are not professional politicians .Like Cincinnatus they have a calling to serve . They have all made their mark in their chosen profession .

I'm talking about candidates like Hershel Walker ; Mehmet Oz, J.D. Vance, Blake Masters,Adam Laxalt.

Let's talk about Dr Oz. as non-traditional a candidate as you can get . He's running against the current Lt Guv in PA. John Fetterman who has never faced off against a Republican candidate in his career . Everything he has is due to being subsidized by his parent's wealth. He did not even collect a pay check until he was 49.

He is recovering from a stroke and I wish him well. But he has used his health as an excuse for running a Clueless Joe campaign from his bedroom ;attacking Oz through social media . His one campaign event was a disaster .

My favorite gum-shoe reporter Salena Zito writes more about his campaign here ....
Fetterman sponged off parents till he was 49 but attacks Dr. Oz’s wealth in PA Senate race (nypost.com)

Read about how he chased down Black a jogger in his shot gun and his pick up truck because he thought the guy was involved in a crime .
It turned out that the man, Christopher Miyares, was dressed in running clothes and doing exactly that — running, not from a crime but for exercise.

Given the proper support;and a fair election that is not rigged up the kazoo, does anyone think Hershel Walker would have any difficulty defeating Raphael Warnock in Ga ? . The slate of candidates for the Dems is as extreme as the party leadership.

All the Repub candidates won by running on policies ;not personalities .If the issues were just policies it would be a slam dunk. The turn out for Repub primaries was huge ;the voters enthusiastic .

Then you have this dour face Yertle putting both the quality of the candidates and the Repub voters down because the candidates are not the people he rubs elbows with at DC cocktail parties .

Except for judicial nominees ;which admittedly has been impressive ;Yertle has been a poor Repub leader in the Senate .

This is his last chance to step up to the plate ;to enthusiastically support the slate of candidates ....not just with his expansive war chest of $$$$$ ,but to passionately support the Repub ticket .. That endorsement brings $$$$$ ,but it also turns loose the local Repub activists that do the hard work in the counties and precincts. The time is getting short. OZ cannot both run a campaign and do the ground work He needs the help of the the Yertle organization.

I don't think he has it in him.

Fetterman wrote an op-ed published in the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader
Buy American yada yada yada .. make stuff in the USA yada yada yada ......criminalize companies I don't like .

Their View: To support working Pennsylvanians, we need to hold Washington accountable | Times Leader

"It's time we crack down on the big, price gouging corporations that are making record profits while jacking up prices for all of us." ..." Chevron, Exxon, and Shell have seen their profits increase 200% since last year, but they're still charging us sky-high prices for gas" . ....which he calls "unpatriotic ". "We'll crack down on this by prosecuting the executives of these huge corporations."
So now it will be criminal activity to set prices based on market factors like supply and demand .

His rant is pure uninformed demagoguery . For one he is completely ignorant of the market forces that raise and lower prices . When the demand is low or supplies exceed demand then prices drop as we have seen many times in the past. When gas at the pump was more than a dollar lower per gallon during Trump's term it was because the supply grew due to government policy that favored pumping and making America energy independent .

What would happen if prices remained flat due to government mandate while at the same time supply was low due to factors like the war in Ukraine ,or our government policy that discourages pumping of oil ? In short order stations would run out of gas ;as they did in the 1970s when price controls were adopted .

The other nonsense in his rant is that as a Senator he could do anything about it . Senators hold their gonads while belching platitudes in hearings . Beyond that they have little power to enforce their musings .

Fetterman wants to be a Senator of a state where many many jobs are dependent on a vibrant energy industry . Attacking an industry that the state is so dependent on for it's prosperity seems unwise.

But Fetterman is a mental midget . If the people of Pennsylvania elect his then they will deserve what he does .
