    The old double standard.
Hopefully a lesson that will sink in from yesterday is that we need fair, honest, and open elections. When that seems clearly not to be happening, then incidents like we saw yesterday become likely. That is not to excuse what happened at all. Those rioters should be arrested and charged, but the insane practice of ballots being mailed out to who knows who needs to stop. If it doesn't, then plan on more events like the one at the Capitol. When people begin to feel their voices are shut out of the voting process, then it gets ugly. It shouldn't, but it does. The expectation that people who want to vote can go to the polls just like they go to Walmart, ballgames, dentists, and liquor stores is not an unreasonable one. I would call it foundational. "You want to vote? Wonderful! Glad you are here. Come in with a photo ID so we can be sure our election is honest, open, and transparent. If you think that's asking too much for something so important, then try living in Venezuela for a year."

And a message to the liberal news media. They went for months excusing riots which including setting fire to a federal courthouse in Portland, an event after which, amazingly, the local police arrested NO ONE, and the ever pandering mayor joined in with the "protestors". Now they seem to be nearly apoplectic at yesterday's events. Well, in trying to have it both ways, you reinforce the label of "fake news" that many of us attach to them. Rioters actually took over parts of the city. We were told we had to be understanding, but since yesterday's group have some attachment to Trump (although that remains to be seen), the media has gone on the warpath. Double standards smell.

Nope, not at all! Googling each quote will give you the entire context, the rest of what she said and why. Cherry picking again....

All those mail in ballots, closely monitored, no fraud. That makes the right wing looney claim just another LIE with no evidence whatsoever. Between the failed NUMEROUS court cases and senate confirmation of the election results all we have is the looneys out of control and directed by the dufus for his own nefarious purpose.

Did I mention looneys out of control directed by the dufus?

Yes it would seem so, two entirely different arguments, the one electoral fraud and irregularities, the other inciting civil disorder. What ever argument Trump may have had is nullified by inciting insurrection

The common thread between the two issues is the dufus instigating his loony cult to new heights of nefarious chaos.

The Congress is in charge of the United States Capitol Police. I guess it would be too much to hope for to see any of them accept any responsibility.

It's actually a cooperation with many jurisdictions and defined responsibilities. If indeed the capital cops had been prepared with the proper back up of the other agencies a different outcome could have been achieved. Who would have thought the CIC would sic his minions on the very government he is charged with administering? Yes eventually all the FACTS will emerge, and how accountability is meted out will seen.

Zip-tie handcuffs and 'thin blue line' patch at DC riot alarm experts (usatoday.com)

Far right wing extremists and those that followed like sheep obviously had an agenda that was far beyond just protesting. The political agenda was also clear, disrupt the democratic process, and both groups should be held fully accountable top to bottom.

The loony fringers advertised well in advance and have vowed to be back SOON. They were all over the country Jan 6th, a FACT that seems lost on us public.

This has been brewing for a long time, and we shouldn't be surprised that it's boiled over in plain sight. It's domestic terrorism and there are no laws against it. Never has been.
