The finances of the president is our business.
Oh? Then how about the VP, or the Speaker of the House, or every senator and SCOTUS justice? Where does it stop? Governors? Mayors? Dog catchers? YOU???
Maybe you wingers don't care where he gets his money, or what he did to get it, but you should just in case he is a crook or in hock to Vlad or the Arabs, or even the Philippine's, or some other dictator or nefarious institution that needs to launder big bucks.
Maybe we should know yours "just in case" you are a crook? There are those who believe in big government knowing everything, and then there are those who believe in limited government which allows a person's personal business to remain his personal business.

    hmmmmm

the New York Times paid zero federal income tax in 2017 on earnings of $111 million 2018

First Amendment allows the press to publish newsworthy information that was legally obtained by reporters even when those in power fight to keep it hidden. That powerful principle of the First Amendment applies here."

What is in bold is what is relevant . There is no way the records were legally obtained .

unless Trump gave them to the Slimes or he approved their disclosure then they were illegally obtained. I'm sure the Slimes will say 'whistle blower'

Makes logical sense to know if any elected official is a crook, and even Nixon agreed with that. Him and his VP were crooks. The first red flag should have been not disclosing finances and maybe LYING about it? Every elected official volunteers that information so I can only conclude you don't care to know the truth about your presidents finances, so whatever he says you just accept. Even King Reagan said trust but verify.

You want to keep your business finances a secret, then don't run for elected office. You want to do the PEOPLES business then tell them about it and back it up with documents. One thing we know as FACT is the dufus makes the government reserve rooms at his resorts just in case he decides to visit. That's a pretty convenient revenue stream for his golf resorts.

That would make it legal, or a National Security issue.

Do you know anything for certain? Well, we do know two things for certain. Obama lied about Benghazi, and was not truthful about Obamacare. Predictably, that does not bother you.

No they don't. SOME of them give out tax info, but very few make their business dealings public. And why should they? Can you give the law that mandates this, or is it just what you would prefer?

    the law is clear

26 U.S. Code § 7213 (3) makes it illegal to disclose unauthorized information, including tax returns

It shall be unlawful for any person to whom any return or return information (as defined in section 6103(b) is disclosedi in a manner unauthorized by this title thereafter willfully to print or publish in any manner not provided by law any such return or return information.  Any violation of this paragraph shall be a felony punishable by a fine in any amount not exceeding $5,000, or imprisonment of not more than 5 years, or both, together with the costs of prosecution

There is no protection for the Slimes if they publish protected documents that are illegally obtained .

Here's a thought. If the dems in the House were so worried about the tax code, they could have presented alternatives during that waste of time known as the impeachment hearing. Did they? No.

Amazon, Netflix, and Chevron paid NO taxes in 2018.

Of course you are deluded or mistaken of facts. I go with deluded because despite being presented with fact you still hang on to your own made up truth.

I can get with a law that makes such info mandatory to disclose.

I've long said that corporation paid no taxes, and been against it, as well as closing loopholes. The dems probably have or had many bills along those lines but repubs will NEVER allow that.

Fine. Give me a fact. I'd love to see one. And just to be clear, a fact is that which can be proven to be true. Not innuendo. Not conjecture. Facts.

The dems probably have or had many bills along those lines but repubs will NEVER allow that.
Sure they did. List them. That's another one of your "facts" I'd love to see. And just as a reminder, the dems are in charge of the House.

Dems have had the house since Jan. 03, 2019, a bit more than a year and half, repubs have been in control for how long, and what did they do again? Let's deal with your fact(?).

The repubs DID change the tax code when they had the House. The dems did NOT change the tax code when they had the House. There are your facts. Be honest.

Now you might not like what the repubs did, but it is absolutely true that they did change the code when they had the opportunity and your guys did not. I guess they were too busy with their impeachment rabbit chase.

As a matter of the any changes to the law require a bill passed by both House and Senate, and signed by the president. So your statement the house changed the tax code is woefully inaccurate and NOT based in fact.
