It never ends.

Breaking news this evening (and yesterday). The Trump Administration falsified reports from the CDC by changing the science to reflect Trump's agenda.

The CDC reports are routinely sent around the world and are (or were) the gold standard in cases like the pandemic. Needing to help his re-election chances, Trump promoted the reduction of tests in the report so that the numbers would look better for his re-election.

This was the exact opposite of what the scientists said. The scientists were forbidden to edit the report to make it truthful by a Trump appointee who had no experience in the subject.

This falsehood increases the reported number of infections and therefore deaths by reducing testing, a necessary tool to combat the virus.

At the same time, in an unrelated matter, a federal judge ORDERED the post office to resume normal delivery and to re-assemble any machines disassembled since the summer. The judge cited citizens having their medicines delayed resulting in several cases of hospitalization, including a young girl with epilepsy. This was a Trump tactic to fix the election by delaying the mail-in ballots.

More: a highly-placed aide to Pence who organized the COVID Task Force meetings has resigned, saying Trump cares nothing for human life. A life-long Republican, she has declared her intention to vote for Biden.

Trump today accused his CDC Director Redfield of "mistaken" comments re wearing a mask and when the vaccine would be ready. Redfield said the mask was a most effective tool and that the vaccine would not be ready until late in 2021. Both statements were the opposite of what Trump has promoted. Redfield is expected to resign.

The CDC has for years gotten the science sometimes right and often wrong .It has been the agent of the agenda of whatever administration is in power or whatever corporate interests it is in bed with . Back in 2016 the group CDC Scientists Preserving Integrity, Diligence and Ethics in Research,(CDC SPIDER) wrote a letter complaining about it .

We are a group of scientists at CDC that are very concerned about the current state of ethics atour agency. It appears that our mission is being influenced and shaped by outside parties androgue interests. It seems that our mission and Congressional intent for our agency is beingcircumvented by some of our leaders. What concerns us most, is that it is becoming the normand not the rare exception

Science is not performed in a vacuum and it is not nearly as objective as some would have you believe. You really need to take scientists off the pedestal you erected . They are humans just like you and me with their own preconceived bias and conclusions and sometimes outside influences . . Science 'facts ' are only proven through repeated replication .

I'm not saying either are right or wrong about the timing of the vaccine. We will know for sure when a vaccine is approved .Even then it should be approached with a healthy skepticism . All you need to do is study thalidomide . It was a wonder drug until it wasn't when it was the cause of birth defects . It is actually still an approved FDA drug and is still being tested for other applications .

As for masks ;we have been given so many contradictory recommendations that it is hard to make a case one way or the other . First we were told by "the scientists " like Fauci that masks don't work when all they wanted was to preserve masks for health care workers (the scientists lied to us) Then we were told to wear masks to prevent us from being a spreader ....but they did not protect us from the virus . Now Redfield is saying masks will protect us better than a vaccine . So what version of their truth is true ?

As for testing ;the first approved CDC test was a joke and a failure . On February 5 the CDC began to send out C-19 test kits, but many of the kits were soon found to have faulty negative controls caused by contaminated reagents. Was that Trump politicizing the agency or was it just typical SNAFU ? Only when the FDA approved tests developed in the private sector did we begin to get adequate testing .

The reason that a vaccine will be here sooner rather than later is due to similar lifting of bureaucratic and regulatory restraints .

nothing to address there...but I did address your untrue comment that the CDC reports are the "gold standard " . The DC will not even recognize chronic Lyme disease as a legitimate diagnosis even though it is a debilitating illness .

As these government agencies go, the CDC is the best. It has pitfalls, sure, especially when Trump gets his paws in the stew and screws things up. And no question that the nutty Caputo and his henchman Alexander royally screwed things up with their bizarre handling of the reports. Both are gone now. What does THAT tell you?

That is NOT even close to what the article said. Do you guys ever read your own links? It is basically saying that the last of the vaccinations will take place in April. Many will happen, according to Trump, before then. So your characterization is exaggeration on top of hyperbole stacked on embellishment.

The glee with which you jump on news like that is really amazing. Pure hatred is certainly how it appears.

...because nursing home residents and the homebound elderly are going to be vaccinated first. If they live more than a week, then probably minorities will be next.

For months, the CDC said C-19 is primarily transmitted between people in close contact through large droplets that land in the mouths or noses of people nearby. On Friday it added that tiny particles known as aerosols lingering in the air could transmit the virus.
Then today the CDC reversed course and removed the additions. The language emphasizing spread via large droplets, was restored.
