Like I said .There are thousands of people who's jobs were deemed essential who were not given the choice. I'm sure the clerk in your grocery story has some fears too. You think truckers want to drive in and out of hot spots ? They never stopped . Imagine if they had . You think that shortage of toilet paper was a problem ?

Grocery stores clerks are masked, have plastic shields at the cash register, maintain social distancing. Truck drivers usually drive alone and wear masks when they deliver merchandise. School teachers will wear masks? Students will wear masks? All will social distance? I used to teach school. I see problems ahead.

the dosage that is needed now isn't HQ, it is common sense. Everyone wants it to be over, in the me society you can't have too long away from the indulgence

You think that shortage of toilet paper was a problem
shelves in retailers are becoming bare as stocks of items produced in low cost countries run low, the first wave was toilet paper, the next wave is everything. Ask yourself, how does the economy recover when there is nothing to buy and sell?

Essentials aside (at least the ones that survive and haven't been worked to death), let's talk about all those non essential jobs of which you speak. Local reporting of the phase IV reopening portends possible spikes in NY's future as it's fallen behind 3 other states catching hell right now, so I would give all those new jobs some time before you berate the slow job seekers from responding...if they are indeed qualified for them in the first place. Good job so far weathering the wave though, so far.

Tal to survive you have to be riding the wave, just floating about doesn't mean survival. If we have learned anything from this is that limited reopening, staged according to community transmission is the way to go

I agree with WG - Trump dips his toe in the water to see what is possible. He never just is "messin'" with Dems. Even his nutty election delay is not a mere distraction - he's testing the waters. His comments on mail delivery are meant to confound and confuse. Undermining the US Postal Service is an action he took about a month ago designed to cast doubt on that agency's capability.

Never underestimate the ability of this con-man thug to be as dangerous as a snake hiding under a rock waiting to strike.

We know that too Clete, but the dufus and his stooges ignore science and common sense. However, I think we all will have to be ready to slow down and stall reopening as a spike is surely expected.

What nicer gift to a friend named Vlad than withdrawing troops from Germany weakening NATO, friend Vlad's enemy?

Does anyone still doubt that Russia helped Trump in the 2016 election and is continuing that help in the 2020 election?

Wild theory, athos, we will add that one to the birth certificate shall we. Anything Vlad could do is unlikely to affect the outcome, and moving troops to Poland isn't weakening NATO, just putting Germany in its place and Vlad on notice

It's not the troop movements Clete, so much as the dufus framing the rhetoric toward our allies that is offensive. Those are the seeds that Vlad loves to see, and totally unnecessary, but another badmouth and misogynous bully tactic from the dufus.

Poland? Half of the troops are being relocated to the US (probably to various golf clubs Trump owns so he can get the revenue) and the other half are going to Italy and Belgium, hardly a greater deterrent to Russia than Germany. Esper claims the move will strengthen NATO - nonsense!

Against that Esper explanation is Trump's entirely different reason for the move. Namely; that Germany isn't paying its bill. But Italy and Belgium are in far greater arrears than Germany which has paid more than any other European country and has increased its payments recently by 10% - greater than any other member.

Trump is also moving a NATO headquarters out of Stuttgart to another country - another gift to Vlad. When Trump and his own defense department can't agree on the reason for the move, obviously the true reasons for the move are being concealed.

Putin's interference in US politics supporting Trump is paying off.

Finally, deaths from Covid-19 continue to set records in several states while Trump fiddles.

Not as long as soviet-era dictator like Putin remains in power who plays Trump like a puppet on a string.

That makes no difference to the millions who are affected. Here's a list.

Virus sickness and death soaring due to Trump's inaction.
Economy crashing and Trump refuses to do the right thing to save it by putting health ahead of profits and his re-election.
    Delay/cancel presidential election.
    Promote Trump presidency for life.
Prohibit the press from covering the GOP convention. (!)
Disarm NATO by removing troops from an ally.
Deny Americans getting a $600/week extension of benefits to keep them afloat.
Force children to go to school endangering themselves, their teachers, and their families.
Remove nutritious meals from those children who disobey.

Hell, and that's only ONE WEEK!

Times change, things change, and the reality of the moment changes. The Russians are paranoid, the Americans are paranoid, the Chinese are paranoid, and where does this paranoia lead? Confrontationalism? Trump has backed a little of it off in one theatre and done more of it in another. Maybe he believes that all Europeans should be aligned against the eastern threat?
