Not so strange given people do what they do and express it in all kinds of ways. Like all those necked ancient statutes and painting that are considered art.

Some confusion here since this drug has been shown to be effective in treating the infected, logic may suggest it might be a preventative and in India malaria is endemic so I can see why they might use it but should I take penicillin also just in case
No you can build resistance to penicillin .

Hydroxychloroquine on the other hand has been used as a preventive for years against malaria .

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford will be conducting a clinical trial using hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine on health care workers who are exposed to C-19 patients The trial involves researchers from the UK, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Italy .The trial is open to anyone delivering direct care to C-19 patients in the UK, as long as they have not been diagnosed with C-19.There will be 40,000 people in the study. It will test whether the drugs can prevent healthcare workers exposed to the virus from contracting it.

It is amazing to me that a potential treatment is mired in politics to the point that it is affecting the study of the drug. Dr Jon Giles ,a clinical researcher and epidemiologist at Columbia University was ready to begin a study in April .Initially he was getting plenty of calls from interested participants . But when he was ready to begin ;he found that subjects were telling him the garbage they have been hearing about the drug on TV and seeing on the net ;that the drug is dangerous to your heart and that it is dangerous . Just a month before that patients who regularly take the drug could not fulfill their prescriptions ;the demand for the drug being so high . Then the committee that was overseeing the study gave him a new requirement ;that all participants had to have had an ECG within the last year . He gave up on the study even though he knew from prescribing the drug for years that heart problems were not an issue with his patients.

This is happening all over the nation . Politics has become a hinderance to good science. Studies have been cancelled or delayed not because it is bad science . The perception is that if the President touts it then it must be bad .

That is so true. Better that the drug not work so the pres looks bad than for the drug to work and the pres look good. The objective is that at all costs, Trump will look bad.

In the meantime, Biden has now accepted the role of deciding who gets to be called "black".

Biden is a card board cut out .His participation in the election will be insignificant . The election is Trump v Trump. It is a referendum on how he did his 1st 3 1/2 years . All I keep on hearing is how quid pro Joe is out polling Trump. But those polls miss the point. Very few can be persuaded . It all comes down again to a hand full of swing states . If "quid" doesn't win PA he is toast . The electoral math gets too complicated .

PA (except for the collar counties of Philly ) is an energy state ,including his home town of Scranton ..... So what does the Einstein do ? He names the 2 commies AOC and Bolshevik Bernie as his climate change task force advisors last week . The 2 of them despise fracking and carbon energy . GENIOUS !!! "Quid" had indicated he wanted a middle ground to which AOC squawked at a Biden rally "I will be damned, if the same politicians who refused to act (in past decades) are going to try to come back today and say we need a middle of the road approach to save our lives."

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/13/politics/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-bernie-sanders-green-new-deal-rally/index.html

He can't have it both ways . He is a gaffe machine but no one on the other side will be persuaded by the things he says or the creepy way he has abused women and young girls over the years .

Yawn...let me know when you find some real science, real facts, and real news. High hopes, anecdotes just don't cut it. There is a real purpose for hydroxy, several as a matter of fact, just not verified for covid19. Studies and trials generally take years so relax on the warp speed crap from the snake oils salesman. Anything to get those minorities and poor people back to work and not give 'em any gobment handouts.

The above is a fascinating quote from Jl as he criticizes Stacey Abrams.

We already knew Jl is a misogynist, based on his need for Biblical approval for a job for his wife, his hatred of democrats and liberals is well-known, but his inclusion of "black" among his negatives is one many of us suspected. The racist in him can't be hidden forever even tho hoods and dunce caps are no longer the thing. These days it's more hidden and subtle.

Redneck racist can now be added to his other epithet of "Judas" (for his joy in betraying Christ by condemning billions of humans to eternal torture in an eternal hell).

You must remember that my "fascinating quote" was a response to this hateful remark of yours. "I never can trust fat, jowly politicians who tell the rest of us how to act and what to do when they themselves can't push back from the dinner table or resist scarfing down that last slice of pizza." When I asked you if that ruled out Ms. Abrams, you of course felt it didn't. Well, she certainly fits your description, so you'll need to tell us why she gets a free pass from you.

The rest of your rant was just the usual attempt to deflect attention away from your cruel comment. You engaged in fat-shaming and I'm really surprised to see a dyed in the wool liberal like you do such a thing. I suppose you consider yourself superior to everyone heavier than you?

Your final sentence is just an example of your shameless tendency to make up a quote and then attribute it to me. You really should try writing fiction. You're off to a great start!! Stacy Abrams could probably give you some pointers.

Kind of disgusting telling someone what and who they should comment on! I mean you have ignored the thousands upon thousands of dufus lies, while attacking everybody else's responses.

You're just like your dufus, you bad mouth and bully and get mad when they throw your rocks back. Is there a scripture for that?

Poor Athos. You lied like dog about Aquinas, and you're still bitter that you got caught in your outrageous lie. I think you are accustomed to the other two amigos fawning over your every statement. Well I don't, and should I need to find out some truth, I would never go to you.

Your final statement is amusing because it tells me what it told me about Tal. I know I got to you, and that gives me at least some sense of satisfaction. You have no answers, so you have to resort to insults. I'll let you and Tal discuss your favorite subject of "arses" (I'm so glad I didn't come up with that!) and pay attention to the adults on this site. What sad little men you are.

I'm still convinced you are under great conviction. I really feel sorry for you.

No, not a lie, just something you couldn't understand. And you are far more obsessed with A than I ever was, and I studied the guy!

Only you Bible thumpers know whatever that's supposed to mean. You throw it out there when you've run out of intelligent things to say. It's a common tactic among your ilk.

I really feel sorry for you.
No, you don't. Talk about lying! You're enraged at me (and others) because you've been challenged and defeated by most of the people here - in one way or another.

    Be glad to.

Stacey Abrams gets a pass because she is a good, decent person who speaks the truth and has the best interests of her followers in mind. She has a wonderful sparkling face with the brightest of eyes and projects a terrific personality. She is overweight, and I would advise her to drop a few pounds for her health, but her weight may be the result of one of the many things women are uniquely prone to.

The other two are fat and jowly die to a lifetime of carnality - physically, mentally, and spiritually. It's easy to see in their faces and in their responses to questions. They reek of the arrogance of power and follow a man so corrupt it is hard to find suitable words. Like you, J, they also have their heads up the arse of the dufus.

Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I don't listen to someone who lies like a dog and then refuses to be man enough to admit it.

    just something you couldn't understand
Correct. I don't understand why a grown adult would lie like a dog and then refuse to admit it.

She has a wonderful sparkling face with the brightest of eyes and projects a terrific personality.
You should be a comedian. "Drop a few pounds????" At any rate, first you don't trust fat people, and then you love fat people. I don't even know why you would bring it up. It was a sick statement. I don't care about her weight or anyone else's weight. The fact that she has never really accomplished anything works against her for me.

No, what works against her for you is that she's a black woman. Too late, J, you gave it up. As usual, unwittingly. When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
