Fold down attic stairs...lower section does not automatically unfold
I have some contractor installed pull down stairs in the garage & when I pull it open the lower section of the ladder does not unfold. I have to get on a stepladder and manually lower it. Of course I can install a second pull down rope on the lower section of the ladder but this seems unnecessary. Please advise & thanks.

If this was a contractor YOU hired, call him back! If not call him anyway.

There may be different designs for these things.
Mine also does not automatically lower the bottom section--it just sits there until I grab it and unfold it myself.
Lucky for me that is only an 8 foot ceiling, so reaching is not an issue.

    Good luck,
