In the past 4 months I have experienced a loud, sort of angry sound in my ear as I am falling asleep or early in the morning (which makes me wake up). A couple times it was the voice of a woman and she seemed to yell a word at me angrily, the other time it was the voice of a man just screaming "ahhh" and today I woke up to a parrot shriek.
I would like to know if this is normal and what the phenomenon is called please.

They might possibly be a sign of narcoplepsy, so check out some sites that give you a short set of questions.

I wouldn't say it's normal, but I think almost all of us have experienced it once in a great while. If it's happening 'often,' such as at least once a week, and you are teens to early 20s, then I would see a neurologist.

Definitely see a doctor. They will likely refer you to a specialist. I would not simply ignore them until a qualified medical professional tells you that you can.
