Do you wonder what happened to the gun? Well, they gave it back to him, of course.. Apparently, in Florida it's OK to have a gun if you're NUTS.

For the record, it wasn't Florida - it was Alaska where he walked into the FBI office in Anchorage. And yes, unless someone is certifiably nuts they don't lose their 2nd amendment rights. How you draw the line of how nuts you have to be to lose that right is the rub.

Unless a doctor or some other mental health professional declared him to be a danger to himself or others then there is no reason to confiscate his firearm. Since no one stepped forth and made that determination they were obligated to return it. Since his mental history isn't out there right now then we can only guess as to what was really going on.

I think that handguns should be banned for civilians like in Japan, Britain and most other developed countries. I think the U.S. is one of the only countries in the world where any idiot or mental case can easily get a handgun. Most of the illegal handguns used in crimes in Mexico and large cities in Canada like Toronto also come from the U.S.

How would that have helped this situation ? Everything so far that has been done was legal as far as how the firearm was treated.
