    Condo question
My condo is approximately 80% Cuban. When they put notices on the Bulletin Board in the Lobby, shouldn't they be in both English AND Spanish.
There are many people still in the building who don't read the Spanish language and the Board SHOULD NOT ASSUME THAT EVERY UNIT OWNER DOES !
    Please advise.
    Thanks

"shouldn't they" is very subjective. Are you asking if they are legally required to or morally/ethically required to? From a legal standpoint that would be up to local laws. There would have to be a statute requiring it and I doubt if one exists. There may be statutes requiring government agencies to provide notices in multiple languages, but not a private entity. So the next question is whether the condo associations by laws require it. For that you need to read the bylaws to see if that is required.

From a moral/ethical standpoint I disagree. While I support any ethnic group preserving their culture, they CHOSE to emigrate to the US. By making that choice I believe they are obligated to, at least partially, assimilate into the cultural and that means learning the language. There is also another point. To require the HOA to go through the expense of producing notices in 2 languages could mean that HOA dues would need to increase. So is it fair to charge everyone extra for this?

If you feel strongly enough about this issue go to the condo board and propose and amendment to the by-laws, assuming its not already there, to require dual languages notices.
