    Why are you hooking it up to the direct Tv box and not the actual TV?

    If it's only a player and not a recorder, then there is no reason to connect it to the Direct TV box. You would want to connect it to the TV. How you do that depends on the outputs available on the player and the Inputs available on the TV.
