Ear plugged up for more than a week now
Since last Saturday my ear has been plugged up badly. I have done everything just to pop it and nothing seems to be working. I have tried peppermint oil, been taking over the counter medicine, hot showers, heating pad. Chewing gum, etc and had not been working. I went to the doctors twice and the er once because I thought I destroyed my eardrum. I'm having a little bit of sinuses but its not too bad. The first time I went to the doctor she said I had fluid behind my ear and she didn't really me at all so that's when I decided to go to a different doctor. The next doctor said it could be because of allergies or acid reflux. She said it was hard to tell if I had a sinus infection or not. Then yesterday I went to the er and he couldn't find anything wrong. I thought I blew out my ear drum because I went to blow my nose and I could not hear out of it. Well today it seems a bit more better I can hear out of it but there is still pressure in it. Also my head gets a lot of pressure too not like a headache though. I am on two antibiotics and I have been taking nasal spray and vitamins. I'm scared that my ear is going to stay like this. It makes me feel miserable and all I want to do is sleep all day. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

Continue the treatment that the doctor prescribed and wait until the treatment is done to determine whether you need further treatment.

See a dentist. Twice in my life an ear infection was from an infected molar.

    AND NEVER POP YOUR EARS!!

I was currently in the same situation. As suggested above, do not try and pop your ears, and also continue to take the antibiotics provided. I had a double ear infection and could not hear a thing and the pressure was really bad and cause bad headaches. After I finished the antibiotics, it took an additional week or two before I could hear a little better. It has been a month and half since it was at its worst and very clogged causing me to not be able to hear at all.. I am at a point now, where I am not even sure if it is back to normal now or this has became normal for me, but it is way way better than before. I have seen where it can take up to a year for your hearing to completely come back.. if there has been no permanent damage. I would suggest, after you have finished your antibiotics, to go back to the doctor and have them check it again for any damage done. Unfortunately, you usually have to be patient here, as it takes time.

Sometimes taking two different antibiotics at the same time may make one of the infections more aggressive. There are different antibiotics for prescribed for particular situations.

Are you taking an antibiotic prescribed by one doctor, and another antibiotic from another doctor ? From what you posted, neither of the doctors you saw knew what the problem was, so I would doubt the antibiotics you are taking are any good for what is wrong with your ear.

I would have to suggest an ear nose and throat specialist would be a good specialist to diagnose your problem.

    I agree completely.

I especially agree with the two different antibiotics. I'm betting two different doctors prescribed and didn't know that another prescription was already in place and being used. Not good to double dip, better to go to one doctor, or be honest with all the doctors you see about current medication being taken.
