    Expiration date
Hi guys. So I'm about to start an azithromycin pack when I notice the expiration date on the box is 01/2016 and on the pharmacy label it's 11/14/15. Should I take it regardless, or has it lost its potency? Any answer is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Seems to be an error in processing. Phone the pharmacy directly to authenticate.

It's a prescription I picked up back in 2014 but never used it because I didn't need it, but I need antibiotics now for a throat infection.

Call the prescribing doctor or pharmacy that filled the prescription.

My opinion, it has lost some of its effectiveness and also, not a current prescription, I would not personally use it.

Simply because it is an antibiotic does not mean it will cure this throat infection you have. Different antibiotics are used for different kinds of infections and azithromycin is not a broad spectrum antibiotic. Taking this drug, if it's not the right kind, may build up your antibiotic resistance, therefore, making it harder to rid yourself of infections in the future.

Do not take it, go see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
