    Can't connect to the Internet
    I can't connect to the Internet, even though I reboot the modem and the computer. The message I get is "It won't connect to Proxy Server" When I try to disconnect the Proxy Server, it won't disconnect.

    I had received this fraudentl email, that did have an account number, my name, type, source port, destination ip, hostname, destination ip. Information (I just deleted it.

    I was a little supicous, and I wish I had called AT&T first, but I did go to the Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Internet Security Software. Website and downloaded it and it deleted 6 so call infections.

    Now about 2 days later, I can't connect to the Internet.
    Do you think it is because of this email.
    I ran the virus scan (MicroSoft Essential) and it said everything was OK. I also have TinyWall firewall.


    Any tips to be able to connect to the Internet, would be greatly appreciate.

    Did any of the programs find that virus that was mentioned ? Tinba ?

    Did you run a boot scan on your system ? Also has your OS detected internet not working and offer to check it for you?

    Try Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Lan Settings
    The be sure the Use Proxy is Unchecked, Then Check Automatically Detect Settings.

    Anytime I get some REALLY weird on my computer that I simply CANNOT fix... I go to combofix! Typically, I try doing the "normal" things that most try to get rid of viruses but when all else fails, this software is amazing. I have used it for years on a number of my computers (I have 4 at home, work for myself) and it has NEVER failed me.

    Downloading ComboFix (WORD OF ADVICE... when going to this page, you don't need to click on anything to download it... in a few seconds, a window dialogue box will appear asking you to download combofix.exe, ok)

    DOWNLOAD THE FILE COMBOFIX.EXE... If you find "combofix" on any other site, don't download it. ONLY COMBOFIX.EXE works.

    If you are sending correspondence to us from your phone/tablet and can't work on your PC/Laptop... I would suggest disabling your network (cable/wireless), removing all caches, cleaning all viruses as best as you can... potentially even restoring your computer to an earlier point (if you have that enabled)... then work on "cleaning" and getting some type of Free AVG software to help you prevent such attacks again.

    For start, The letter from at&t I do believe is a scam. At&t or SBC Global does not send virus alert emails unless it has changed in the last 9 months.

    At&T does however offer free antivirus.

    Personally I use AVG they are great! And one of the top rated antivirus available.
    Avg has a free 30 day trial it also has a free 30 computer cleaner that fixes common problems. AVG Tune up
    Be sure before you download anything from the web make sure you are on the official site for what you are downloading.
    You must remove any antivirus before installing a new one or they can cause conflict with each other.
