    Can't access financial sites
I have a neighbor who all of a sudden cannot access any of her normal financial sites from "favorites." Normally uses Internet Explorer but somehow Google Chrome got installed on her computer. If she used Chrome, she could access those sites. She does not want to use Chrome so we uninstalled. You can access any other web site but still none of the financial sites using Windows Seven. Need help please.

She may be using an older version of Internet Explorer than all financial sites no longer support, typically version 9 or earlier. What version of Internet Explorer does she have? Perhaps she does not have the proper encryption strength: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195833

Got it fixed. Did a little research and found a solution I think. The fix was this. Went to IE/Tools/Advanced and found the box for TLS was unchecked. Somewhere OI found where both SLL and TLS needed to be checked. Whatever it does I don't know buit that's all I did.

Wow! Thanks for posting because this worked for me too (right after I posted a similar question)! I went this route though: Start--> Control Panel --> Internet options--> click Advanced tab, scroll down to "Security" and check the TLS 1.0 box then click apply.
