    Very Very Loud Bang
Hello sorry to bother you my name is Richard am just trying to find an answer to some very strange events that happened at my dads pub back in 1984/5
On no less than 4 occasions over a 1 year period a Loud bang as loud as a shot gun happened above the bar coming from ceiling sending the brass ash trays flying in all direction that hung above the bar all the electrics continued to work no odd smell just a drop in temperature behind the bar
Just wondered if you could shed any light on what it could be as I am stumped for ideas.

What I find amazing is that the noise was that loud I would have expected to find at least a crack in ceiling
My brothers came running down the stairs and said his bedroom lit up like fiery flames
His bedroom is directly above the bar.
    Its most bizarre.

Could be you should say what you are thinking, which is something paranormal? After all of these years it is kind of a mute point though. It could have been something electrical, probably an old pub, right? Wiring in those days could have gone off like you describe.

We had the wires revamped and still had Loud bangs coming from ceiling.
I don't believe in ghosts myself but its very odd what happened
The brass ashtrays flew off in some force
Its all so very strange I just wondered if anybody had any ideas as like I just said am not a believer in ghosts.

So that your question attracts the proper experts, is this a question regarding the paranormal or electrical and lighting?

I wanted to know if the noise could possibly of been caused by an electrical fault or plumbing fault.
I just can't except its paranormal activity.
It made headline news on front page of local paper.
The pub is called The Red Lion, Jackson Bridge in huddersfield.
I could post the paper report on Facebook page if anybody interested?
I am open to all ideas of what caused it.

Have you had electrical experts investigate? That's what required an investigation by experts, both science and paranormal I suppose.

Let me understand this question. You are asking for a speculative answer on an event that happened 29 years ago?

Here's my official electrical answer, I have no idea. If a transformer had exploded, all power would have died to every one served by that transformer.

If you can recall the weather that day, were there any lightning storms in the area?

We don't get many thunderstorms here in yorkshire.
The weather has nothing to do with it.
I was standing literally underneath the ceiling one night the Crashing bang happened
I swear it sounded just like a Shotgun going off
I remember looking up at the ceiling and it seemed to vibrate incredibly most of the brass ashtrays went flying to end of the room!
It was crazy its just not normal but it happened.
As far as I know nothing ever happened again when we left the pub around 1986.
What's so strange is at the time it happened my mum had left my dad as she met somebody else now this chap that hung himself in pub did it because his wife had left him!
Is it possible that the shotgun noise going off is a replay of events in the past?
I don't believe in ghosts I just think science has caught up yet.

    hasn't * ^ .

One night at the pub before I was aware of strange goings on I had a scary experience in my brothers bedroom that is directly above the bar where the crashing noise occurred
I was trying to unplug an adapter in the socket and I noticed it had screws out of it and was half exposing live wired etc..
Has I tried pulling the adapter out of the socket I touched a live wire and it throw me back against the bedroom door I was quite emotionally disturbed by it
I guess I could have had a heart attack
Was a very luck boy I was 13 at the time.

    Harper,

Regardless of the articles, which I have not read, you are asking about a possible electrical event that happened 29 years ago.

What possible relevant answer could an electrical forum possibly offer at this late date?

    Thanks for your time
