Kenmore 500 series washer: Model # missing, No agitate, will spin and drain. Timer?
For the life of me I can't find a plaque or other marking besides these two numbers

    8318015 & W10025400

Will fill, drain & spin, but it will not agitate. From Web searchin It sounds like a timer?

I can't get a timer without the model number. Checked these with no avail
Washing Machine Model Number Locator - Find the Right Part for Your Washer with PartSelect

    Any advise?

    Thanks for reading,

    Lex

No, it is not usually a timer. Look at these: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...c%20washer.pdf

It can also be several other parts that you can test with a multimeter. The water level control is one along with solenoids.

    Dr,

Any idea which guide to use? This behavior reminds me of a starting cap failure (furnace blower motor). Hum, and stinky if left on. It does spin, so the cap sounds unlikley. You sent so much info, thanks SO much!!

Here is a bad pic of the washer

You need to use a meter to check the capacitor. You do not guess at these things which is all I could do without testing the capacitor and motor. A bad capacitor will burn up a motor so do not run it until you find out if it's bad. You need to look at the manuals and find the right one, but they are all about the same. Look at this one: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...c%20washer.pdf

    Hi Dr,

I am not sure these pics may help. Other than water inlet, and water Many solenoids, particularly agitator / spin, are not there. Water level and temp both run through the timer. There is 1 big molex and a few single wire ones going into the motor.

    Pictures here

I can't find a model in the zips you sent. I have read all the way through the testing procedure pdf. If the water levels cut off as the switch shows, is it fair to assume the level switch is ok?
