Bathroom sink turned into a fountain
My boyfriend went to fix the little plate that says hot and cold on our bathroom sink as it was crooked. He pulled up and the whole top came off and our bathroom became a waterfall! It took us forever to find the water shut off. We tried to put all the parts back together, but every time we turn the main water on it still shoots out.

I was trying no to do that, but I guess I will have to. I didn't see any parts that were missing, so Im not sure why its not working! We have a very old house, and in order to turn the main off we had to go outside by the water spicket. So we can't use any water in the house. I was just going to try to fix it before he got home so I can use the water. :(

No parts that contain the pressurized water should come apart with a pull or a tug... and if they did they simply won't go back together.

They have simply worn or corroded beyond their service life.

There should have been two shutoff valves for that sink... under the sink... one for the hot and one for the cold.

No there wasn't any main shutoffs in the house. We went a replaced it. Later after we turned the water on, we found a piece hiding in the shower. It must have flown in there during the explosion! So, if this happens to someone else, search the whole bathroom for any stray prices before you go out and replace it. Lol

Fog horn noise when using taps in bathroom sink and kitchen sink [ 1 Answers ]

There has developed, in the last week, a "fog horn" sound when we turn on the hot or cold taps in the bathroom or kitchen. It does not occur when we use the washer or dishwasher. Could anyone give some advise on what could be the cause of this?
