    Old anime movie
    Back in the early 90s when I was a kid, there was an anime movie on TV.
    I remember there being a group of travellers, one of which was a girl which had a little orange ball thing for a pet/companion.
    In one part when the group is travelling through a desert, they're attacked by some big mech, which the little ball thing helps against by summoning a swarm of little ball things to attack it.
    At the end of the movie, when the group reaches what I think was some ruined-looking city, the girl disappears, because she used help or something.

    Any ideas what it was?
