Craftsman garden tractor makes noise when transaxle is engaged
I have a 2000 Craftsman Garden tractor that makes a pretty rough noise after I engage the transaxle. And it sounds like its coming from below the motor and not towards the rear of the tractor. And the tractor moves fine after I engage the transmission I know that if I don't get it fixed something is going to break... Could it be the electric clutch located under the motor or does that only control the blades?

Yes, that only controls the blades. There is another pulley under the engine driving the transmision and is probably loose. There is a bolt up through the center holding the pulley to the crank.

Thanks a bunch so if I remove the center bolt the electric clutch and the transaxle pully will come? Do you think I need a new pully?

usually no, just if the pulley is cracking or something, check the belt too. But if you want to change the lawnmower into a racing one =) small pulley in back

You may want to remove and replace pulley, usually if the pulley comes loose it will egg out the key way.. . Inspect and make decision.
