    Alienware graphics
Hey right I have a problem with my alienware m17x where I have just updated the graphics drivers and since then the video controller comes up as not installed properly. I have tried system restores uninstalling all my graphics and reinstalling but nothing works. And I am stuck without it.

Is there a yellow triangle next to it in control panel hardware? Or where / when are you getting the message as not properly installed ?

When you got the drivers for it did you get them from the Nvidia website? Another thing you can try is clicking the driver information for that card in control panel and then select update.

The drivers have been downloaded via the driver update facility in windows. I have also tried getting them from the manufacturer but still it will not work.

Boot to Safe Mode, run system restore and install the latest Catalyst drivers from nVidia.
They offer a driver scan option here: NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Detect NVIDIA Products

Normally when you install new video drivers for Nvidia it uninstalls the old drivers first. Try what Curlben suggested and get your drivers from that site.
