    Black and red beetles
Ok, I know it's a long shot, but here it goes. Every summre I get these tiny black hard shelled bugs and they have a red stripe, amlost like the wiggle in Charlie Brown's shirt going across the back of it. They love to be in my daughter E's room, so I am assuming they like her left over treats. I only find dead ones, so does this mean they are living IN something and coming out to die? I have googled red and black bugs but came up with nothing besides itchy.

Uggg that sent deep shivers down my spine J! Yes very similar to that, but I think they only have one stripe. But the body is dead on.

Wondergirl, I think the one you posted was a maple bug. When I lived in the western provinces you couldn't even walk out your front door with out being covered in them!

It's a Box Elder bug that goes into homes for the winter. Here's the article, sort of seems to fit your situation --

I'm sure I can locate one tonight when I get home from work, I'll try and get a snap of one. I'm not sure if that's it. I most certainly hope it's not the one J posted lol, that thing is OOGLY! Plus it had all these mites on it. When I read about the one J posted, most people were saying how it "plays dead", I wonder if that's why all the ones I find are "dead"?

Can you make the picture BIGGER, J? Some of us only have 25" screens. Bella, what J posted is a HUMONGOUS picture of a carrion beetle. If that's what you've got, move the compost pile further away.

My Verizon phone has me save the pics from the phone to my online account. Then I can post from the web or save to the computer and post from there.
