My daughter fell of a moto bike and hurt her elbow they said it was a fat pad. When we saw a doctor 5 days ago he said she had a fracture and she needs to keep it in a sling after 5 days of being told we see a doctor today and he just took her sling of and said she was fine and could do normal stuff when we were told 5 days ago not to move it. The doctor today never looked at her elbow or anything what do you think and how long does it take to heal

I think the question here should be does she have a fracture or not and if so what type?
Fat pads are normally in the front and back of the elbow, and a fat pad sign is an abnormality seen on the x-ray that suggests a fracture because the fat pad appears abnormal. It's not really a type of fracture but a indication of one, it's possible that it could also just be damage to the fat pad with no fracture, though if there is evidence of an abnormal fat pad sign there's typically a fracture. I think that if a child has an abnormal fat pad sign the arm is splinted and immobilized for two weeks and then follow up is done (just in case).

So some questions for you:

Did you see the same doctor you saw the first time or a different one? And did they take a follow up x-ray?

Was she only on a sling, or did they put her in a splint as well?

How is your daughters arm feeling now? Is it still painful? Is there any tingling or numbness around the area or in her fingers? Can she move it without pain or tightness? Is it still swollen? Do her fingernails look the same color in both hands?


If there's any question of your daughters elbow still being broken. I would highly advise you to keep her from moving it and getting her to an orthopedic specialist as soon as possible for a second opinion.
With kids (not sure how old your daughter is) elbow fractures can be tricky to detect because of all the cartilage but there's a few important nerves and arteries that you don't want to compress by moving it around too much if it is broken.

We saw a different doctor, but I seem to think he looked at her wrist X-ray as he didn't mention anything about her elbow, I have made a complaint about him as he was so rude to me and didn't want to answer any questions, he yanked her arm about and thought that it was strange as she done this injury on Sunday 28 April so it's only been 9 days ago.
They didn't give her another X-ray to see how it was healing and I'm sure it was her radeouse bone sorry for the spelling it's the bone that gives movement in your arm,
She was put in a sling for support and asked not to move it as it will cause more bleeding.
She is 14 years old and she can move her hand but not got full movement in her arm and hurts when she moves it.

I think it would be a very good idea to get a second opinion in this circumstance, at the very least an x-ray is expected to make sure it's healed if it was fractured!

Thank you think I will be getting on to the hospital tomorrow. This is my complaint to the nhs.
My daughter chanel Lovett fell of her motto bike on the 28/4/2013, chanel went to Wycombe hospital on this date and was given an X-ray on her elbow which showed that she has a fat pad injury she was given a sling to wear and we a waited to see a doctor at stokemandervile hospital which we saw on 2/5/2013 and he explained chanel injury and that she needs to keep it in a sling for at least to weeks till we see someone at the fracture clinic, I received a phone call from Wycombe hospital for my daughter chanel Lovett to be seen at the fracture clinic on the 8/5/2013 to see a DR Matthews who was very rude to me and my daughter, he pulled the sling of her and said you are fine get back to your life you are fine, I have seen the X-ray which was taken on 28/4/2013 and there is nothing there. I then tried to explain to DR Matthews that we were seen by a DR in stoke mandervile a few days ago who said different but he would not let me say anything. I am writing this complaint regarding DR Matthews from the feature clinic in Wycombe hospital as he was very rude to my daughter and I, my daughter can not move her arm and is still in great pain, he never took an X-ray to see how her elbow was doing and he didn't even fill or look at her elbow, I was very disgusted on how he just pulled her arm and said she was fine and gave me a piece of paper with a report which does not say when she saw a doctor at stoke mandervil, who told me that it will take 6-8 weeks to heal and that chanel needed to keep her arm in the sling for at least 2 weeks. So how come doctor Matthews said different? I hope that you can deal with this matter as I feel very upset about how my daughter was treated and that I feel he has missed something and could not explain to him or even ask questions about chanel injury.
