    What fallacy is this?

    Officer, I realize that just now I ran a red light, but you simply cannot give me a ticket. If I should be delayed here, I most certainly would not make it to the hospital in time to visit my poor Aunt Rose after her recent brain surgery, and I most assuredly would miss my plane to Geneva. In Geneva, I intend to present to the world my foolproof plan for world peace and an end to those obnoxious political commercials.
