    I have a 2003 Harley 1200 xl sportster.Not fuel injected.The bike runs great at first,and then shuts down!I changed the coil,same thing!I pulled the first plug and it wasn't getting any fire to the plug.What should I try next?

My 2006 Harley sportster will not start. The speedomoter light turns on and appears to run in reverse for a few seconds. No other lights turn on at all. The battery and fuse are OK. It appears that the battery arched some how because the negative post has some burning. Any suggestions?
