Wedding etiquette for divorced parents of the bride?
What is the protocol for seating divorced parents at their daughter's wedding when both have not remarried, are friendly but where one has been involved in a serious live-in relationship (but are not married) with another person for the past several years. BTW, this relationship began well after the parents divorced.

My questions are, does the parent who is involved in the relationship sit with the ex-wife or with their partner? Should the partner be seated behind the parents if they sit together or should that person be seated among the guests.

I don't want to spoil the day for my daughter by inadvertently doing the wrong thing.

    Thanks for your advice

Parent and ex-wife sit together, other person is seated with the guests. There is no way the other person should be included in the wedding party.

Love you, Tick - but I disagree. Parents and their partners, legal or otherwise, are included. These peoplea aren't dating. They are somewhat long term but single for some reason.

I say the relationships with other people shouldn't be ignored.
