    Search feature
I have upgraded to Windows 7 - and I'm beginning to regret it.

At any rate I cannot figure out how to use the "search" feature to locate a missing file. The instructions say that "search" appears at the bottom of start.

I can't find it - ? I run with WP if that matters.

I can search with XP but this is a mystery to me.

Simply click the "Start" button and the Search option is the box that is at the bottom.
Just type part of the file name in.

Failing that and for a fuller search, Open Computer and use the search box in the top right corner.

Thanks Ben! I'm desperately searching for an old file which I transferred and was baffled.

Search in Win7 actually works very well, certainly much better than XP.
May not seem it at first but once you gain confidence it'll pay dividends..

Did you actually upgrade or did you start over "new" ? If you upgraded you might need to open and look under "windows.old". Sometimes the search feature ignores that folder when doing a global search.

If "we" are talking about the round Windows symbol at the right-hand bottom of the screen - if I click onto that I do not have a "search" symbol.

    ?

It's a new computer, newly installed Version 7.
