Pain years after hernia surgery
I've had hernia repair surgery (inguinal) and now (4 or 5 years later) I am experiencing a lot of pain around that same area. Pain spreads to my thigh, back, and testicle. After intense research (whatever that was worth) I discovered I may have done something to my inguinal ligament, as I have something protruding right where I think that runs along. I'm in pain though, no insurance, and no clue if I should be getting help. Please help me...

Only you can decide whether to go to the doctor. There's really absolutely nothing we can do on the internet. We can't tell you what's going on, and even if we could, we cannot do anything about whatever is going on.
You really need to see your doctor.

Omg get off this site. Please. I have no insurance, no money, and four kids. I wanted an opinion of someone that knows what they are talking about. Obviously you are not this person. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, I wanted someone who may have had a similar experience, once again... not you. Don't waste my time with things I already know.

If I do go it will have to be the emergency room which will cost thousands. I was just trying to gather up as much info as I could.

HUH?? What do you WANT??
I was going to tell you all about how easily inguinal hernias come back and blah blah but now it's difficult to care. Telling someone who volunteered time to be helpful and your response is 'get off this site.' You do know that hernias can strangulate and kill you, I'm sure.

OMG! I totally had that. It was like a third testicle! I went to my doctor and he took care of it.
Does that work? I lied. See what I did there? You must realize that no one is going to answer your question now right? This is a volunteer site, we don't get paid to do any of this and Alty is one of the best people on here.
And you just blew her off. Viciously. Good luck.
Let's just for $hits and giggles look at your case here. You had Hernia surgery. From what I have heard from other people who have had this surgery is that there is a chance of it coming back. I could do all the internet searching I want, but you've already done that. I won't be able to interpret it any better, with regard to your case, than you did.
So you don't have insurance. No money. There is nothing you can do about this. Sorry. Maybe you can get on medicad, or obamacare or whatever you have down there. Maybe you can rely on the kindness of others...
Good luck with that.

Well Bryan, I've been on this site for almost 5 years. I don't get paid to be here, none of us do. We all volunteer out of the goodness of our hearts. But, thanks to your post, my heart isn't feeling all that generous anymore, at least in regards to you.
So, my advice to you is this. Find someone else to ask. After the way you talked to me I doubt very much that any of the other volunteers will spend a second even reading your post, much less answering it. You see, we don't have to answer anything we don't want to, that's the beauty of volunteering.
So you can follow my advice, or do what you want. Hopefully your condition isn't fatal.
Bye now.

Well I certainly didn't mean to discourage you from helping someone that night need it. And other dude chill the out, I misinterpreted what I read. I'm human. I made a mistake. No need to go on n on and be and fuel the Internet gangster bull anymore than we all have to see it. Alty, once again, I am truly sorry. Now let me tell you my story. I have four beautiful little kids that look up to me for everything. Well I am falling apart. Between this groin pain n half of my teeth being busted up I can never eat or sleep. I've went from 170 to probably close to 120 in ab a year. No this isn't a pity party, I'm simply telling you that when I don't sleep for days on end and I can't eat either I tend to act not right. Especiallly when I got my kids being crazy you know? I was expecting a medical proffessional to answer me n when I got your answer all the frustration came back and I took it out on you. Once again, sorry. You keep helping people, I'm the one that needs to go. God bless.

And no, I was under the impression this was a "ask the doctor" kind of site. And obviously I was wrong and undeservedly chewed someone out. Yup my bad. And thank you for your kind words also. Unnecessary bs...

The internet is a terrible thing when it comes to medical issues. While there is so much information out there, much of it good, without the correct medical background I find many of my patients misdiagnosing themselves dangerously.
Bryan, in the end, you see, we cannot really help you. We don't know your medical background, we don't know the particular surgery you had (there are several different methods), and even some quack doctors who may have done it incorrectly. Unfortunately, you are going to have to see someone face-to-face to deal with this properly.

Yeah that's what I know ultimately has to be done. I am just broke, without insurance, and mentally & physically exhausted and was desperately grasping for something. Ok though... thank you anyway..

Your apology is accepted.
Having said that, I'm going to post something, and I hope you read it with an open mind.
There are sites where you can ask a doctor online. There are no doctors on this site. All the doctor sites aren't free, also, you're not really talking to doctors on those sites either. No doctor can, or would, diagnose someone online. They simply won't, because it's not possible, and it's unconscionable, it goes against everything they vowed to do. There's absolutely no way to give someone a diagnosis online. No way at all.
Having said that, I do understand how you feel. In the last few years I've had nothing but health problems, I've been to doctor after doctor, specialists, and I've had almost every test known to man. They've found things that I need to have taken care of, but none of those things explains the symptoms I'm having completely. I have two children of my own, and I'm a wreck. So I do understand.
Luckily I'm in Canada, health care is free here, so I can afford to go to specialists and doctors, and have surgery if it's needed, and not pay a penny out of my pocket for any of it.
I know that in the US it's very expensive to go to a doctor, but my advice to you, and really this is the only advice anyone online can or should give you, is to see a doctor. Find a way. If you have family, borrow the money. Friends? Borrow the money. Sell your computer, your car, whatever you can and find a way to get the answers you need, because no, you're not well, and yes, you do need medical treatment. You are in serious need of medical treatment, that's my opinion.
Think about your kids. Think about the quality of life you have right now. Think about the future, because this won't get better on its own.
See a doctor. Find a way to do that. Trust me, if I were rich I'd actually send you the money, that's how much I feel you need to see a doctor. Sadly I'm not rich, I live paycheck to paycheck, and barely make ends meet. In other words, I really really do understand.
I can only hope that you find a way to see a doctor, and that everything will be okay.
As for the other people that posted, you cannot diss them. You really can't. Like I said, I've been on this site for 5 years. In that time I've made many friends on this site. When you posted what you did to me, they defended me, because they know me. I'd have done the same for them, and I'm doing that now. They don't deserve your wrath any more than I did.
Good luck.
