    Meteorology research
    At around 1205 pm I noticed a circle enveloping the sun can you explain what caused this , I have photos of it , one of the photos show a red dot which is also hard to explain. Please get back to me with your answers, this happened today on the 17/06/2012 thank you. Regards [email protected]

    Circles around the sun common, and are certain arrangements of moisture in the air (actually ice crystals).

    I don't know about any red dot.
