Kohler Marine generator 5e works great expect some times when going to start, will not start, remove spark plug and there is water on top of piston.

Any ideas what is happening, have siphon value installed and exhaust muffler and exhaust pipe installed according to specs!

I would suspect a bad gasket or cracked block?
I wood also check your oil and maybe do a Compression to start.
