If you have never met him in person or spent some fact to face time with him you can't mike such a life altering decision.

You need to more time to let this relationship develop from the cyberspace to the real world.

Neither of you can fully commit to each other without spending actual time together. Eight months is NOT a long time to know someone, especially when its only been on the Internet. How do you to know he's being truthful? How is he to know that you are someone he can live with as a partner for life?

There are Internet success stories but when you don't get to know each other IRL the chances of relationship failure are greater than ever.

You mentioned not wanting to hurt your parents but you know this will cause them a great deal of disappointment and pain.

I see only one way - talk to them about your deep feelings and tell your "intended" that you need to meet in person. I'm not sure how old you are but if you're underage, that's obviously a huge issue.
