I just have to share this - Extreme Tech
Just how big are porn sites? - A truly mind boggling piece of research and safe to surf to as well..

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a person in possession of a fast internet connection must be in want of some porn.

While it’s difficult domain to penetrate — hard numbers are few and far between — we know for a fact that porn sites are some of the most trafficked parts of the internet. According to Google’s DoubleClick Ad Planner, which tracks users across the web with a cookie, dozens of adult destinations populate the top 500 websites. Xvideos, the largest porn site on the web with 4.4 billion page views per month, is three times the size of CNN or ESPN, and twice the size of Reddit. LiveJasmin isn’t much smaller. YouPorn, Tube8, and Pornhub — they’re all vast, vast sites that dwarf almost everything except the Googles and Facebooks of the internet.

Is it a surprise that it is a multi billion dollar industry and growing? Who do you think hired all the programers after the collapse of the internet bubble? Many went into that industry because money is to be made. Its been that way through the ages and now with technology it continues and evolves.

The real issue is how to keep it out of the hands (eyes) of those that shouldn't be looking at it and to allow those that are of legal age to do as they please.

Honestly, as the internet is free for all, or a free for all, depending on how you look at it.
There really is very little that can be done, other than at a parental level.
I agree there are some things that should NOT be on it, but if it's legal in your country, then the government has no right to poke their noses in.

I digress as I was more interested in the vast amount of cutting edge tech that's involved in this enterprise.
    Utterly astounding...

That is where the programmers that were the "hot ticket" chose to go to when the internet bubble burst. They swayed some of the brightest minds to the dark side. Its no surprise that high tech has taken an edge in that arena. Look at it this way. When movies frst came out. One of the first was a kissing movie that created a scandal world wide. The future of high tech goes where the money is. And right now that is where lots of money is changing hands.
