What should I sue him for in small claims court?
I took my boat to be repaired 7 months ago and he said it would be ready in a month. We have gone back and forth with his excuses(he has a real sick family) and I don't think it will ever be finished and I certainly don't trust his work to be complete or correct. I gave him $1500 down with $500 upon completion.

So how much work if any has been done ?

You ask for all your money back and the boat back,

So first you ask for it back, if then he does not, you sue for it

My comment is related to work being done but not a car. Just a thought.
Everything is in writing. I might not care when you start but I want to know when it will
Be done. How long. Siding for example. How many days will it take you?
I always have written on the contract final pavement on my approval.
Any judge in the world will figure that one out.
I don't think it will work with verbal. And then small claims requires
All paper work to be filled out properly. Make sure you do that or it
Could be thrown out of court and likely. Then there's the trust with
    Reputation.
    Good luck.

Sorry. Maybe I misunderstood. My comment was related to proof in small claims court
And the way you present yourself to be successful. That's all.
I was just saying paper work proper in court and presentation to be successful.

That may be what you meant, but frankly, I agree with Judy, that it was very hard to find anything relevant to the question asked.
