I read a book in 2005 about a child (I believe it was a boy) who was diagnosed with cancer or a terminal illness of some type. The book was written from the parent's point of view (I can't remember if it was the mother or father). The book talked about how the illness went into remission several times and how the child was always in and out of the hospital. I also remember there was some type of accident. I believe a telephone pole fell on one of the parent's car during a storm. I also remember the child was visualizing zapping the cancer cells with a spaceship and had to be kept under quarantine for awhile. I believe the child dies at the end of the book.
