What type of fraud, perhaps guilty of poor taste and judgement, perhaps working as a PI without a license. But I don't see a fraud, unless you accepted money, told him you would and then did not do it

Without a license to practice Private Investigation, I would surely say your guilty of stalking, If she has no idea you we're checking her out or following her I see no further reason to worry, If nothing is said or done your good, if she wanted to file stalking charges she can, Without a proper license to actually investigate someone's demeanor and actions = serious consequences

If she notices you she could charge with stalking as noted. But the only way you could be accused of fraud or impersonation is if you claimed to your friend that you were a PI. Or, if she caught you and you identified yourself as a PI.

Based on what you have said I don't see any.

However, Stalking can be a serious business. If she notices you, she can find a police officer and point you out. You could be arrested and, unless your friend testifies that he asked you to follow her, you could be in big trouble.

No, but it certainly sounds like you're guilty of stalking (or whatever the technical term for it in legal parlance is.)
