    MSword requesting virus scan-? help
    I have a problem with MSword. When I open a doc it takes a while and when I finally get word open there is a note on the bottom bar saying "requesting virus scan". Then it loads the document. I run a fast PC, late version of word, scan for virus with norton (updated weekly). Any thoughts on this?

    Yes. Go into your Norton antivirus and turn off the option that has Norton scan all documents before opening. This should speed things up. Make sure that you are still diligent about not exposing yourself to a virus from shared documents and e-mails though. Documents that you create and you alone edit are going to be virus free unless you have a virus to begin with.

    "requesting virus scan" annoyance and problem
    I am having the same problem. When I “turn off” the .doc and .xls files that are being scanned every time that I open one up it still takes more than a few seconds and it still says “requesting virus scan”. It is really annoying!!
    Any other suggestions?
