Can itchy feet and palms be diabetes?
Three evenings ago, my feet and then palms started itching severely. I applied cortisone cream which helped some but I didn't get much sleep. During the day I am okay but evenings it begins and it is horrible. The cream is not helping any longer so after scrubbing my feet with a foot brush, I tried a facial toner that was alcohol based and it seemed to help (burned a little but). I also turned on the ac in my bedroom and the cool air also helped and finally last night I slept pretty much through the night. Not sure what to do as it is so bad, I want to cut off my feet. I saw on one of these sites the mention of this being a possible sign of diabetes which concerns me greatly. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I do not know anyone else's experience but my late husband was diabetic and he did have this problem. Eventually he was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.

Have you been tested for diabetes? What does your Physician say?

I haven't seen the doctor yet but I have been tested in the past and was okay. Time to get tested again. I will let you know and thank you.

Last night was worse, it came on later in the evening but went up both my legs to my knees. At about 2:30 AM I got up and filled a picture full of ice and poured it in the bathtub with cold water. I poured it over my feet, legs and hands for about 10 minutes and it actually helped to relieve the itching. I was able to get some sleep. Called the doctor today and they had no clue and didn't even want me to come in. The only thing they suggested was to take 50 mil of Benadryl at night to help me sleep. I have made an appointment with a accupunturist/herbalist for Monday to see if I can get any relief there.

Well this is interesting I have suffered from itchy palms and feet for four or five years.. Seen two skin specialist and one allergist. Lots of prescriptions and creams nothing has helped first they said it was psoraisis I had 40 ultra violent treatments. Next Dr. said it wasth extreme excema, I was very sick with the cream he gave me. The allergist said it was a sesnitivity to salicylates. Nothing helps I am a type two diebetic but it isn't to sever I take 1/2 metformin in the morning and at supper. I can't get any answers. It did start around the time I was diagnozed with type 2 it is much worse in the evenings and wakes me up itching and usually bad in the mornings. It is like a nerve itch sometimes I wonder if it shingles.

    I doubt it's shingles.

If you are diabetic it COULD be neuropathy. Have you seen a Neurologist?
