Hawkings is no different than anyone else .In quest to find his personal God he is doing what humans have done since they found the time to reason... create one that he can understand in his own terms.

I understand the laws of physics as well as most laymen ;compared to Hawkings ,hardly at all. Perhaps it gives him comfort to equate or to replace God to mathematical equations .

For myself ; I prefer something closer to the personal God that Johnny Cash sang about.

    Your own, personal, Jesus
    someone to hear your prayers,
    someone who cares

    Your own, personal, Jesus
    someone to hear your prayers,
    someone who's there

    Feeling unknown
    and you're all alone,
    flesh and bone,
    by the telephone,
    lift up the receiver,
    i'll make you a believer

    Take second best,
    put me to the test,
    things on your chest,
    you need to confess,
    i will deliver,
    you know i'm a forgiver

    Reach out and touch faith
    Reach out and touch faith

Did God die on the Cross? Is Mary the Mother of God? If God died on the Cross then Mary is the Mother of God, the same logic applies to both. I say that God died on the Cross because Jesus is God and Jesus died on the Cross. I say that Mary is the Mother of God, because Jesus is God and...

Science Vs. Religion (GOD) continued: GOD created man in his own image. [ 145 Answers ]

K, so we can argue till the cows come home, about this but there is a lot of good feed back from the last one I had, I like to hear others ideas. I"m going to simplify this one though, to avoid loosing the topic. Lets go with the idea that some scientific professionals believe that...

The Creation of the Universe and an eternal God. [ 19 Answers ]

I hope nobody sees this as a baited question. I hope you all know me well enough to know that I'm just here as a genuinely interested party, wondering how certain inconsistancies (as I see them) are explained in religious creation. If God is perfect, and God is eternal, why did he suddenly feel...

Did god create the Earth or the universe? [ 16 Answers ]

And why is god assumed to have a human form - is this so that it helps us to relate to him more easily. Otherwise I don't understand why if god created the universe be would happen to be human, rather than any of the other potentially millions of lifeforms which exist across the universe.
