    I have a prototype of my invention, how do I get a patent to protect my idea
    I have never written a patent before, how do I get help? How do I know who to trust not to take my idea?

    Go to your public library and check out a book (Nolo books are good ones) on how to register a patent. If I remember from my reading, it's good to have a lawyer who knows what he is doing. Registering it yourself isn't a good idea.
